The last year may have kept Herb Alpert, the legendary trumpeter, artist and philanthropist from completing his North American tour, but the pandemic certainly hasn't slowed Herb's creative and philanthropic efforts.

On May 20th, 2021, the Herb Alpert Foundation doubled the number of awardees for the 27th annual Herb Alpert Award in the Arts. The Foundation has also significantly increased financial support to struggling artists through grants to organizations such as the Jazz Foundation and Artist Relief Fund.

Musically, the past twelve months have been a busy time for Herb who released his latest single Zoo Train 21 in March 2021. The track is a reimagining of his original composition, Zoo Train which was featured on his 2014 album In The Mood. Last June, Herb released Slick, featuring keyboard great Jeff Lorber. Slick, which Herb co-wrote and originally featured on his 1968 album, The Beat of the Brass, hit the airwaves on June 22nd.

On October 1, 2020, fans from around the globe were treated to the virtual premiere of Herb Alpert Is ...the official Herb Alpert documentary covering the life and celebrated career of a man who has been an integral part of American culture for over six decades and outsold The Beatles 2-1 in 1965.

On October 2nd, Herb Alpert Is... the box set, featuring 63 classic tunes as well as a comprehensive catalogue of his career was released, selling out the first run within hours.

An accomplished painter and sculptor, Herb's art is currently on display in an exclusive virtual exhibit at the Heather James Gallery titled "Herb Alpert Coffee Paintings." Last fall Herb showcased another virtual exhibition titled, " Herb Alpert: Recent Works." Click here to view the exhibition and learn more.

While the pandemic may have prevented Herb and his Grammy-winning vocalist wife Lani Hall from completing their 2020 US and Canada tour, the duo rounded out 2019 with ten nights of sold-out performances at the legendary Cafe Carlyle in New York City. February 2020 took the band from Prescott, Arizona to California for three sold-out concerts across the state. The status of future touring plans can be found at  herbalpert.com

September 20, 2019, marked the release of Herb's most recent album, Over the Rainbow which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Albums and Top Jazz Albums charts. The album features 12 songs including an original called "Skinny Dip" and a cadre of classic and well-known tunes interpreted and performed in a way only Alpert can deliver. In October 2018 Herb released Music Volume 3 - Herb Alpert Reimagines the Tijuana Brass which reached #2 on the Contemporary Jazz Charts. His 2017 albums, The Christmas Wish and Music Volume 1, both reached #1 on the Contemporary Jazz charts, and Alpert was nominated for his tenth Grammy for his album  Human Nature.

Through the Herb Alpert Foundation, Herb and Lani have dedicated their lives to philanthropy, funding programs that help bring creativity to young students and keep creativity alive for all the arts, for artists young and old, including jazz education and programs that teach compassion and well-being. May 2021 will mark the 27th anniversary of the
Herb Alpert Award in the Arts celebrating 130 awardees over the past 26 years. The fall of 2020 also brought the opening of the newly remodeled  Harlem School of the Arts at the Herb Alpert Center, funded entirely by Herb and Lani Alpert.

Please note, this is a full capacity performance.
