The Partners in Education program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts
The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts and North East Independent School District are members of the Partners in Education program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington, D.C. Selected because of our demonstrated commitment to improvement of education in and through the arts, the Partnership Team participates in collaborative efforts to make the arts integral to education. The program is designed to assist arts organizations throughout the nation in developing and expanding educational partnerships with their local school systems. The primary purpose of these partnerships is to provide professional development in the arts for teachers.
Representatives from both The Tobin Center and NEISD attended the Partners in Education Institute this April and worked alongside Kennedy Center artists and national education leaders. The team will create a detailed plan for arts–based professional development for NEISD elementary level classroom teachers. There are currently almost 100 other partnerships across 42 states already participating in the program, now in its 25th year.
