The Generation NEXT Education Initiative mission is to provide access to the arts and arts education for the entire community. GenNEXT removes barriers to arts participation by providing a diverse range of cultural, educational, and artistic experiences to more than 60,000 audience members annually.
- Did you know... Every 4th and 5th grade student of SAISD is invited to a free field trip to see a professional performance at The Tobin Center each year? This is in addition to trips these students make to the Symphony's Young People Concerts or our other school time and youth performances!
- Did you know... The Tobin Center presents multiple Sensory-Friendly events each year? These provide professional artistic experiences to audiences with unique sensory needs.
- Did you know... The Tobin Center provides scholarships for Title 1 campuses and nonprofits, providing access to professional performances and top-tier arts experiences for underserved members of our San Antonio community?
In fact, every resident company at The Tobin Center has their own educational initiative, allowing The Tobin Center to reach diverse audiences of all ages, promote distinct cultural arts, and improve arts access and the quality of life in San Antonio.
“My experience at the Tobin Center was like no other, when we went to see 'Ballet Folklorico de Mexice de Amalia Hernandez' my friend and I experienced the amazingness of their show. It didn’t just take me back to my childhood, it also taught me more about the culture. And it all lasted until hours after the show because we had the opportunity to talk to Viviana Basanta who’s the daughter of Amalia.”- Brenda Salinas, Senior at East Central HS
