Much of our work is best seen in the schools and among the students. We aim to enrich what happens in the classroom and provide art experiences outside of the classroom as well.
Artist Interactions: Lectures, master classes, theater workshops, in-school performances, and audience talkbacks are presented for students and audiences.
Technical Workshops: These half-day workshops, led by The Tobin Center professionals, introduce high school theater students to the real-life experience of working in an active performing arts center.
San Antonio Wolf Trap: Through the use of puppetry, music, role play, and story dramatization, professional Teaching Artists train early childhood educators in performing arts-based techniques to enhance all areas of development through active play.
Tobin Center Arts Krewe: GenerationNEXT employs professional artists from Bexar County to provide Arts Integration activities to local schools during or after the school day. Available as workshops, multi-session residencies, these Arts Experiences connect curricular subjects with the arts for powerful, student-centered learning experiences.
Contracted Instructors: In partnership with SAISD, GenerationNEXT contracts with music and dance professionals to teach daily classes and private lessons at many campuses.
Bexar County Arts Internship Grant Program: GenerationNEXT facilitates Bexar County’s art internship grant program which provides grants to ten Bexar County non-profit arts organizations for use in hiring a community college or college/university student as a summer intern.
Tobin Center Internships: Candidates work with industry experts behind the scenes in our highly specialized, fast-paced performing arts center, giving them valuable skills and experience needed in today’s competitive job market.
