Sean Layne: Defining Arts Integration: What and Why*

PK – 12

Many professional development programs are based on a philosophy and practice of teaching called arts integration.

So what is arts integration? This session unpacks the definition the Kennedy Center developed and gives you the opportunity to uncover the characteristics of quality integration. In addition, the session includes your participation in an arts-integrated lesson and examines how arts-integrated instruction aligns with current learning principles and best practice.  Join Sean Layne, the co-author of the Kennedy Center’s internationally adopted definition of arts integration, for this informative, asynchronous, virtual session.

There is a required wrap-up session on Monday, 24 July 2023 at 5pm, held via Zoom.  This fun and interactive closing, with Dr. Kimberly Stephenson of the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, will last no longer than 1 hour.
