Don Frost recently retired from Frost Bank after a 44-year career in Finance. He began his career in 1980 with the Texas Department of Banking as a state bank examiner in the Austin Region. In 1983, he moved to Frost Bank as a loan review analyst, then commercial real estate lender and then organized and led the bank’s private banking department in 1989.  He became head of the Commercial Real Estate Lending in 1991 and was the San Antonio Region Senior Lender in 1998.  Don rose to Regional President of San Antonio, New Braunfels and Boerne from 2001 to 2011. In 2012, Don began his second career within Frost Bank organizing a statewide public finance team in Frost’s Capital Markets Division.  Since 2012, Frost’s team has served as underwriter for Texas Municipal Bonds over $100 Billion in par value consistently placing the firm in the top 10 for Texas rankings.  The team also serves as Financial Advisor for many public entities also focused on Texas.

As a fifth-generation banker, Don continues to serve his community.  Currently serves as immediate past president and emeritus board member of the McNay Art Museum, UTSA Capital Campaign Leadership Council, Episcopal Diocese of West Texas Development Board and advisor at San Antonio Academy.

Some past board chair affiliations include Founder and Chair of Centro San Antonio, San Antonio Academy, Good Samaritan Center, Downtown Alliance and City of Olmos Park Higher Education Facilities Corporation.  Past vice chair of UTSA Development Board, San Antonio Economic Development, San Antonio Chamber, San Antonio Hispanic Chamber, and Our Lady of the Lake University.

He has chaired successful capital campaigns for McNay Art Museum, Witte Museum, Good Samaritan Center and San Antonio Academy.

A native of San Antonio, Frost received his BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin in 1980.

Don is married to Lou Celia Frost, and they have three children, Houston Frost (44), Celia Frost Griffin (42) and Clayborne Frost (35) and three grandchildren.  Lou Celia and Don are proud their adult children are happy, productive and involved in their respective communities.
