Equitable services for the creative arts to promote justice, inclusion, and empowerment for all.
Participation in the arts is the right of all individuals. The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts recognizes the various needs of persons with disabilities and provides an array of accommodations to ensure safety, inclusivity, and enjoyment during your visit. For more information regarding each accommodation, please click on the drop down boxes below.
All entrances are wheelchair accessible. Accessible parking is available on all levels of The Tobin Center Parking Garage on a first-come, first-served basis.
A drop-off area is located on Auditorium Circle to the left of The Tobin Center’s front steps.
All public restrooms are wheelchair accessible. Companion care restrooms are also available on the orchestra, grand tier, and mezzanine level of The Tobin Center. Step stools are located within the companion care restrooms on the orchestra level.
Arm-chair removable seating and wheelchair accessible seating are available at all performances. Accessible seating is reserved specifically for patrons with accessibility needs and their companions. Patrons purchasing accessible seating may purchase one wheelchair accessible seat and three companion seats adjacent to the accessible seat. Depending on availability, seats for companions will be placed as close to the accessible seat as possible. For assistance in selecting accessible seating options, please contact the box office at 210-223-8624.
Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs) amplify and clarify sound directly to patrons' ears. A limited number of receivers are available for use at the patron services window.
With advanced notice, American Sign Language Interpreters are available to interpret performances. To schedule an ASL Interpreter, please contact Chance Margotta at 210-212-0938 or [email protected].
Elevators are located on each side of the McCombs Lobby behind the bars and at the entrance or the Carlos Alvarez Studio Theater.
KultureCity® has partnered with The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts to make this location and all its programs and events Sensory Inclusive™. This new initiative will promote an accommodating and positive experience for all guests with a sensory issue, no matter their age or ability.
The certification process ensures that the staff at The Tobin Center are trained annually by leading medical professionals on how to recognize those guests with sensory needs and how to handle a sensory overload situation. KultureCity® Sensory Bags, equipped with noise-canceling head-phones (provided by Puro Sound Labs), fidget tools, verbal cue cards, and KCVIP lanyards will be available to all guests at The Tobin who may feel overwhelmed by this new environment.
Sensory Friendly Performances are inclusive matinees that address the needs of all individuals in a welcoming environment. While the integrity and authenticity of the performance remains the same, certain production elements will be modified to create an accommodating experience. This provides an accessible opportunity for everyone to enjoy the arts.
All events at the Tobin are able to make sensory-inclusive accommodations, learn more here.
Service animals are welcome inside the venue but must remain on a leash or in a harness at all times. Service Animals will rest in the seating area of their owner rather than in an aisle. A guest whose service animal poses a threat to the safety of other guests and employees may be asked to escort the animal off the premises.
The Tobin Center has wheelchairs available to assist guests with mobility concerns. Patron Services staff may be contacted to assist.
