Hosted by Naomi Shihab Nye
With musical guest Kitten Mitten in McCombs Lobby
Naomi Shihab Nye, according to Jane Tanner in the Dictionary of Literary Biography, “Nye observes the business of living and the continuity among all the world’s inhabitants … She is international in scope and internal in focus.” Nye is also considered one of the leading female poets of the American Southwest. A contributor to Contemporary Poets wrote that she “brings attention to the female as a humorous, wry creature with brisk, hard intelligence and a sense of personal freedom unheard of” in the history of pioneer women.
"Kitten Mitten is a pack of animal-loving friends turning their pets' antics into anthems, blending heart and humor to amplify voices — furry and human — that too often go unheard."

What is PechaKucha?
Think of it as storytelling with a twist! In PechaKucha 20x20, you get 20 images × 20 seconds each—the slides keep moving, and you’ve got to keep up. It’s quick, punchy, and always surprising.
At PechaKucha Nights, creatives of all kinds—artists, designers, thinkers, doers, dreamers—gather to share their passions, projects, and ideas (or even vacation photos!) in this fast-paced format. No two talks are ever the same, and that’s what makes it magic.
The evening kicks off with our Happiest of Hours—a lively pre-show gathering where local food vendors and Tobin Catering share delicious samples of their work. It’s the perfect way to celebrate San Antonio’s creativity—not just on stage, but on the plate too.
Every city’s PechaKucha Night is organized locally, meaning each one has its own flavor and energy, celebrating the creativity of that community.
