Spacetime invites audiences to contemplate the breathtaking scientific story of the universe and our place within it. Stunning visuals, including spectacular authentic telescopic images and computer models of distant stars and galaxies, are combined with dynamic narration and live, compelling and often mind-blowing guitar music. Starting with big questions (and a small flash), the performance uses astrophysics and poetry to call for collective action and hope. Audiences leave the theatre feeling profoundly connected to the universe, our home planet, and one another.
Luke Keller, award-winning professor of physics and astronomy at Ithaca College, says of the project, "Our Spacetime performance is a unique opportunity to explore our cosmic origins at the intersection of science and art. It's an interdisciplinary romp in which a poet, a musician, and an astrophysicists do what they do every day to give audiences an experience that is anything but everyday."
David Gonzalez, acclaimed poet and storyteller, expresses his enthusiasm for the collaboration, saying, "Spacetime brings together the magic of storytelling with the awe-inspiring wonders of the cosmos, all set to the spellbinding music of Álvaro Domene. This performance transcends boundaries, inviting the audience to embark on an unforgettable journey through space, time, and human imagination."
Álvaro Domene, for over a decade one of the guitar music underground’s most creative forces, adds, “To be engaged, enraged, inspired, moved, and empowered to think differently, to appreciate complexity, and to act with purpose from a place of mutuality and love: This is the journey Spacetime offers.”
