McCombs Arts Education Fund

Providing children with opportunities to experience the performing arts has a positive effect on their school achievement, social-emotional skills, creativity, and social interactions. Young people living in poverty are less likely to have access to professional performing arts experiences. As San Antonio remains one of the poorest cities among the nation's large cities, providing access to the arts to our city's underserved youth is imperative and a tenant of the Tobin’s education initiatives.

The McCombs family, in partnership with The Tobin Center, launched the Charline & Red McCombs Arts Education Fund at The Tobin Center in 2025 to ensure the sustainability of free educational programming at the Tobin for local students for generations to come. In addition, the fund will provide transportation scholarships for Title I schools to cover the cost of bringing students to the Tobin for school time and sensory friendly performances, removing the final barrier to arts access. The fund will grow over time and provide continuing support for the future in order to ensure access for all students in San Antonio and the surrounding areas.

Donations can be made to the Charline & Red McCombs Arts Education Fund. Your support of this vital effort will provide free access to the performing arts, opening a new world for those who have never had the opportunity to experience a live concert, dance production, musician, or storyteller.
