Inspired by folk traditions, dances, and cultural stories, this season finale explores how composers transform musical heritage into powerful orchestral works. Gabriela Ortiz’s “Kauyumari” draws on the spiritual traditions of Mexico’s Wixárika people through vivid colors and driving rhythms. Daniel Freiberg’s Guitar Concerto showcases one of the world’s most beloved folk instruments in a fresh and expressive symphonic setting. Bringing the season to a joyful close, Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 transforms the sounds and spirit of his native Bohemia into one of the most uplifting and beloved works in the orchestral repertoire.
Join us one hour before the concert at our Stories Behind the Sound to hear from guest artists and learn more about the evening's program.
